Be like Jesus

Matthew 5 speaks about the posture of our hearts. A lot of times we are bounded by personal realities, difficult situation, and unforeseen events, events, and situation that makes our everyday life extra challenging, people that makes our everyday life complicated.

Gods word today teaches us of the kind of heart that we should possess in any circumstance that we are in, while the world teaches us to respond in a manner of “an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth”, Jesus is teaching us to respond with openness and love, that when someone strikes you at your right cheek, you give your left cheek, should someone press you into service for one mile, go with Him for two mile.

While the world is teaching us to hate our enemy, the Lord is teaching us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

We all desire to be like Jesus, to be holy just like Him, though we will never be like Him, because He is God, but we are not limited to give our best, make ourselves better, be holy just like Him. We make every opportunity an opportunity for Holiness.

May today’s gospel reminds us of that kind of heart, the kind of servanthood that we give and share to people around us, in are families, workmates, peers, and people that we meet everyday, He is reminding us of how it is to be Jesus to others, may this conviction and desire be our everyday call and desire too.
